KIND

Client Challenge

KIND, a nonprofit organization devoted to the protection of unaccompanied and separated children, was reaching the end of a multi-year strategic plan. Based on the recommendation of UNHCR, another client of ours, KIND invited North & Main to create a new strategic plan for the future, building upon the existing mission and vision. Given the status of Central America’s economic and political situation at the time, as well as in the increased politicization of unaccompanied children, we had to ensure our work addressed several urgent realities. But it also had to be practical - this could not be a plan in a binder on a shelf somewhere.

Our Solution

Using our five-step planning process for the development of practical strategic plans, we worked with the KIND leadership, board, and staff to build out a plan that would hold firm no matter what political shifts might occur. Our plan reflected both the work that was currently being done and work that KIND aspired to do, bringing the organization’s aspirations together with the good work they were already executing.

Our Results

The strategic plan was well-received and implemented by KIND’s engaged staff, leadership team, and board. The team requested additional support for future projects and referred us to other prospective clients.
